One company, many perspectives: who are the people behind the success story of ELA? How do they view their work and the company? What motivates them, both professionally and personally? As part of personal portraits, long-standing as well as newly added colleagues offer exciting insights into a diverse company.
Second Generation of Management
Even as children they "lived" ELA at the breakfast table – the three siblings would never have imagined that, within 50 years, it would become a globally successful family business. Today, they are working to continue this success story together with the third generation.
A driver with his own style
Alexander Gorr spends several hours in his lorry every day, so he has furnished his cabin to have everything he needs. Nevertheless, he is happiest at home. Seeing his young son eagerly waiting for him in the evening makes the day perfect.
A project management playmaker
As a talented soccer player, Jan-Luca Ahillen has seen a lot of places and has lived in the USA for four years. He loves to be on the move to supervise projects on site as an international project manager at ELA. So it's not that bad that it's not as sunny in the Emsland as it is in Florida.
Top consultant and tennis ace
At work she advises her colleagues on how they can optimise their processes with the aid of IT. Thanks to the family-friendly working hours, Selina Knollenborg has enough time to take care of her child and husband – and to play tennis and compete with her friends at a high level.
Career changer with dream job
A few months as sick leave cover have turned into 25 years: The skilled electrician has found his dream job as a truck driver at ELA. Whether professionally with a 40-tonner on the country road or privately on a motorbike in the Ore Mountains: Being on the road is a way of life for Steffen Göpfert - and gives him freedom.
Head of Assembly Station hits high numbers
Together with his team, Sven Wösten “knocks out” several hundred preassembled containers per week from the ELA assembly station in Haren. In his free time as a Thai boxer, he has not yet counted how many knock outs he places.
Mediator with craftsman skills
As head of process management, he works with diplomatic delicacy to ensure that processes in all departments run faster, better and more efficiently. In his spare time, he is more hands-on: At home in his workshop, Matthias Schwegmann makes things out of wood or metal – and sometimes he even builds a “smoker” himself.
They didn't know each other very well, and they didn't agree on everything, but over the course of time, partnership has turned into close friendship. Since 2009, Harald Denk and Oliver Hake and their team have built up the ELA location in Billigheim, southern Germany, and steadily developed it further. That created a strong bond - professionally and privately.
Sociable Project Manager with country love
Rushing from appointment to appointment, supervising one project after the other: His job as a project manager at ELA is exciting, but also hectic at times. At home in the countryside, Yama Rahman can switch off and relax while walking with his family.
Project Manager with power
He is fully committed to his job and enjoys working at ELA as a project manager. But after a long day on the road or in the office, Jeldrik Trecksler needs a balance to the job: In the gym, he can work off all his energy.
Family Finance Manager
In the ELA Group, Liesel Albers-Bentlage takes care of the company's financial affairs. Family is very important in both her business and private life – for her, cohesion is what makes a real family business.
Hands-on Manager on tour
When he started at ELA, it was quite normal for the management to help out everywhere. And so Tim Albers still likes to lend a hand when there's a need. In his private life, he devotes himself to his lovingly restored vintage bus.
As a networker, Günter Albers always has his eyes and ears open for new ideas. Since the handover from his father, he and his siblings have developed ELA from a regional provider into an international player. Finding the right people for the right tasks is the be-all and end-all for him.
Office worker out travelling the world
After doing a school internship in internal sales at ELA, she liked it so much that she went straight back there after completing her vocational training. In her private life, Hannah Kiepe likes to get out and see the world – sometimes with team colleagues and on the spur of the moment.
Bridge-builder with a calm nature
As head of International Sales, Cornelius Egbers practically lives out of his suitcase. He is inexhaustibly on the go, connecting the ELA headquarter with its international sites. His calm nature helps him build bridges between people, countries and cultures.
Controller with wanderlust
As head of Controlling, Matthias Brink has got his eye on the numbers and helps steer the ever-growing ELA company in the right direction. In his free time he travels the great wide world by caravan with his family.
Businessman with a strong sense of family
Fridor Boerma has never regretted selling his company to ELA and becoming managing director. Quite the opposite, in fact, for the passionate chef and host. Because at ELA, he’s still working for a family company – with the possibilities of a corporation.
Purchasing Employee with the recipe for success
Thanks to her comprehensive training at ELA, Jasmin Schwering has all the ingredients she needs to master her job as a Purchasing Employee as well as bake her beautifully decorated cakes – to the delight of her colleagues.
Head of HR with good instincts and a knack for team building
Berthold Röttger has clearly mastered the art of putting together the right team. In his free time, the 2m-man relaxes by playing basketball and listening to hip hop – on vinyl of course!
Master of spontaneity and sports car fan
He shares a passion for sports cars with his daughter and enjoys being on the go. That works out well, because his job requires him to spend a lot of time in the car and on the road. Boredom is never an issue thanks to the interesting conversations he has during his travels.
A manager on the right course
During his career at ELA, Hans Gatzemeier has already held several positions and set many things in motion. When he is not working, the ELA Offshore Managing Director enjoys golf, a very popular sport in the industry.
Sisters rich in experience and expertise
Not too many people in the company know that Marita Drees and Christa Wobken are sisters. If you add it up, they’ve worked a combined total of about 60 years at ELA and appreciate the family-like corporate culture.
Engineer with a green thumb
Markus Meny, Head of Engineering in specially designed containers, shows his affinity for constructing and for heirloom vegetable varieties.
Gourmet as Head of Reception
He actually trained to be a chef. As the Head of Reception at ELA, Yves Protzner therefore insists on also offering guests a culinary delight.
Marketing Manager from the outset
As Marketing Manager, Michael Schmidt has been seeing to business with regard to advertising, press relations and ELA News for years. He doesn’t have a long commute – so he is able to bike to work.
Go-getter on wheels
Marek Sandmann is always on the move – be it during his industrial management assistant apprenticeship at ELA or in his personal life at the skate park that he built up with his club.
Teamplayer with an understanding of tradition
As Head of the Management Systems Department, Ralf Manning drives the digitisation of workflows at ELA forward. During his free time, he keeps the regional language alive with his friends on the ‘Platt-Cast’ in the Low German dialect.
Accountant with a black belt
As a Company Accountant, Beatrix Brinker keeps her eyes on the finances and balances the books at ELA. And her balance as a karate athlete is apparent.
